One year later: BB&T leader reflects on breast cancer journey
Oct 19, 2018

One year ago, the month of October – recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness month around the country – was quite different for BB&T’s Chief Information Officer Barbara Duck. It was around this time in 2017 that Duck was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer and was facing multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. Refusing to let it stop her, Duck continued to work and used her voice to raise awareness and inspire others battling the deadly disease.

Fast forward to October 2018 and Duck is done with treatments and looking ahead to the future. She continues to be a huge advocate for women’s health and is a proponent of clean living and plant-based diets. And her story continues to inspire. Just last month, Duck was named to American Banker’s 2018 ‘Women to Watch’ list, which recognizes the professional achievements and influence of top-performing female executives in banking and financial services.

Read about Duck’s reflection one year later from the Winston-Salem Journal.
